Eden Primary Staff: 2016-2017
Deputy Head Teacher: Helen Graff
Helen joined Eden in February 2016. Helen is an experienced teacher and school leader with a particular passion for Science.
She has extensive teaching experience across the primary age range and has played leading roles in many important aspects of teaching, learning and assessment. Helen previously worked at primary schools in Redbridge, Waltham Forest and Camden and has been in Senior Leadership roles as a Deputy or Assistant Head since 1998. Helen holds the NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship), PGCE and has a degree in English Literature from York University.
At Eden she holds particular responsibility for assessment, day-to-day school organisation and science, and will take on other roles from time to time as well as being a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Helen works 3.5 days at Eden each week.
School Business Manager: Lucy Tierney
Lucy has worked at Eden since April 2011 and played a lead role in opening the school and managing the building project. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Lucy takes responsibility for finance, premises management, human resources and all other aspects of the school’s business and operations that allow us to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children and families of Eden Primary.
Lucy came to Eden Primary with 8 years of previous experience as a School Business Manager at a large primary school in Islington. Previously she worked in TV production. Lucy has a BSc Hons Human Sciences from UCL.
School Administrator : Andrea Collett
Andrea is the School Administrator and supports the Senior Leadership Team, teaching staff, Eden parents and children. After several years working in TV as a researcher and producer she spent 10 years managing an adolescent mental health charity in Haringey. She has previously been a school governor, and is active in Jewish communal voluntary and educational work. Andrea also plays an important role leading School Council at Eden.
Inclusion Leader: Carrie Goodwin
Carrie joined Eden in January 2017. She is an experienced teacher and school leader with a particular passion for SEND. She has extensive teaching experience across the primary age range and has played leading roles in many important aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.
Carrie has previously worked at primary schools in Haringey, Enfield, Barnet and Devon and has been in Senior Leadership roles since 2009. Carrie obtained her PGCE from Exeter University and her B.A. (hons) in Communication & Audio Visual Production Studies, from London Guildhall University.
At Eden Carrie holds particular responsibility for Inclusion, as well as being a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Carrie works 4 days at Eden each week – 3 days as Inclusion Leader and 1 day as a class teacher. Carrie is extremely passionate about helping children with special needs, not just in the classroom but in the wider community also.
Premises Manager: Moses Kirosingh
Moses is our Premises Manager and has a wide range of skills learned in the building trade that are invaluable for school premises management including security, maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, IT, electrics, painting and decorating. Moses manages premises lettings.
Reception (Garinim) Teacher: Emily Daines
Emily has been our Reception teacher for the last two years. Previously she worked as an Early Childhood Professional leading provision in the Early Years Foundation Stage for 2-5 years olds. Emily has a degree in Linguistics with Hebrew from University College London and an MA in Philosophy. Emily has responsibility for leading and coordinating our Early Years Foundation Stage.
Emily will be working at Eden until the end of October when she will be leaving us for a short while as she goes on maternity leave. Before her maternity leave she will be co-teaching in Reception with Yifat for two days a week and covering for PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) across the school for three days.
Reception (Garinim) Teacher: Yifat Johnson
Yifat graduated from the School Direct programme as a qualified primary school teacher in the UK in July 2015. Last year she was on maternity leave and returned in the Spring to work in Year 1. Since 2011 she had been the Teaching Assistant and Hebrew teacher in the Reception class. She also has a Bachelor of Education from Seminar Hakibbutzim in Tel Aviv.
Yifat will be teaching in Garinim this year for three days a week and then for four days when Emily begins her maternity leave. Helen Graff, Deputy Head, will teach in Reception on the Friday of each week. Yifat is responsible for Physical Education at Eden.
Year 1 (Shorashim) Teacher: Martin Lubich
Martin is an extremely experienced and successful class teacher who has worked extensively in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 and has also taught children up to Year 6. He has significant experience in School Leadership and Management and has been a Deputy Head and a Headteacher.
Martin has a degree in Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics, a PGCE with specialisation in Maths, and qualifications in School Leadership. He has a strong background in Judaism and Hebrew and this is his fourth year at Eden. Martin also leads on Computing across the school.
Year 2 (Shtillim) Teacher : Paula Granger
Paula is an experienced teacher having worked at a school in Hertfordshire before joining Akiva School where she worked for 6 years as a class teacher and lead on both Literacy and KS1 Phase Leader. She has an English degree from the University of Birmingham and her PGCE from the University of Cambridge.
Year 3 (Anafim) Teacher : Lucy Gerber
Lucy joined Eden in September to teach in Anafim. This will be her fourth year teaching. Previously she taught for two years in Brighton and for a year in Israel. Lucy has a degree in English Literature and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education. Lucy will be taking responsibility for PSHE and School Council at Eden this year.
Year 4 (Nitzanim) Teacher : Megan Greene
Megan has worked at Eden for the last four years as a Teaching Assistant and unqualified teacher in a variety of classes. Last year she qualified as a teacher on the School Direct programme and is now teaching in Nitzanim, Year 4 where she worked as a trainee. Megan has a degree in Modern Languages (Russian, French and Czech) and a Masters degree in International Development Management. Megan is a talented musician and plays a leading role in developing and teaching the music curriculum and choirs at Eden. She has a passion for environmental education and gardening!
Year 5 (Prachim) Teacher: Laura Proffitt
Laura joined us last year as our Year 4 teacher and is now moving to Year 5 with her class. Laura is in her third year of teaching. She has a degree in Ancient History, a Masters in Classics, a PhD in Ancient History and Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Primary Education and English. Previously she has worked as a lecturer and researcher and as a specialist in antiquities working in Auctioneering. She is responsible for the Humanities at Eden.
Artist: Laura Fox
Laura is an artist and educator who works in every class with the class teachers enabling the children to use creative languages and materials to deepen their learning across the curriculum. As an artist, she brings a unique set of skills and is committed to working across the school community to develop creativity and artistic skills in the school environment. Laura plays a leading role in embedding the inspiration and ideas of Reggio Emilia at Eden. This summer Laura completed her Masters Degree in Art Education at the Institute of Education. I’m sure you will want to congratulate her on that remarkable achievement.
Hebrew Teacher: Eli Abu (Maternity cover)
Eli Abu is working at Eden Primary to cover a maternity leave, continuing to support Hebrew learning across the school. He joins Eden with a wealth of teaching experience having worked at Rosh Pinah Primary school for 15 years and before that at JFS.
Teaching Assistant (TA) : Kamali Freedman
This year Kamali will work Mon-Thursday. She will work in Shorashim four mornings a week and will work with individuals and groups of children requiring additional support in the afternoons. Kamali has a wide range of experiences in both general and Jewish education including work in early childhood education. She has worked previously in primary schools, special education and supplementary Jewish education. Kamali is a yoga teacher and runs a Yoga Club at Eden.
Teaching Assistant, Reception (Garinim) and SEN TA, Year 2 (Shtillim): Lizzie Leusink
Lizzie joned Eden this year working in Shtillim as an SEN TA every morning and in Garinim in the afternoons. She has a degree in Spanish and Linguistics and has a wide variety of experiences supporting children in primary schools as a volunteer.
Teaching Assistant & School Meals Supervisory Assistant (SMSA): Justyna Krzychowiec
Justyna has worked at Eden for the last two years as an SEN Teaching Assistant and SMSA. This year she will work in Garinim/Reception every morning as the Teaching Assistant and will work in Shtillim as a SEN TA in the afternoons. She also works in the playground at lunchtime providing special educational needs support. Justyna has a BA in teaching English and a Masters degree in languages.
Teaching Assistant & Breakfast Club : Barbara Komlos
Barbara has worked at Eden for the last two years. This year she will work as a Teaching Assistant for four mornings in Shtillim and for one full day and three afternoons in Prachim (Year 5). Barbara has a background in media and experience in catering and will continue to work in the Breakfast Club and in Café Eden.
Teaching Assistant & Breakfast Club : Bina Yadav
Bina is a qualified teacher who will work in Shtillim this year providing Teaching Assistant and Special Educational Needs Support. Bina also works in the Breakfast Club. This will be her third year at Eden.
Teaching Assistant: Santiago Perez
Santi volunteered at Eden last year supporting classes across the school. This year he is working as a Teaching Assistant in Year 3 (two mornings and three afternoons a week) and in Year 4 (3 mornings and two afternoons a week). Santi qualified as a teacher in Spain and also has qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK. Santi has experience working with children in schools and in sport and will also run a Spanish club this year.
Jewish Song and Prayer Leader : Avivit Katzil
Avivit teaches Jewish song and prayer and supports the school’s various musical events and celebrations.
Chef : Martyne Burman
Martyne runs the catering company Cooking Crew, and is Head Chef managing a small team in the kitchen at Cafe Eden. She creates lunch menus which ensure that every child enjoys a tasty and nutritious lunch each day.
School Meals Supervisory Assistant : Raquel Mendez
Raquel works in Café Eden and the playground during the lunch break. She spent many years working in business before taking time off to bring up her two children.
School Meals Supervisory Assistant: Zsuzsanna Decsák
Zsuzsanna has recently joined Eden Primary but has been working in education both here and in her home country Hungary for several years. She works in Café Eden as a SMSA supporting a child with particular medical needs.
SMSA and Cleaner: Giovanny Suarez
Giovanny is from Columbia and has been living in the UK for three years. He has a daughter in primary school.
