PGL (formerly Kingswood) residential for Prachim Year 5
Prachim returned this afternoon from their three-day residential at PGL Grosvenor Hall in Kent.
They had an absolutely brilliant time, and here is another class of whom we are so proud. Children
completed team challenges, learning how to solve problems and collaborate in new and very
challenging settings and contexts. The culmination of these was the Leap of Faith: climbing to the
top of a VERY tall pole and then leaping through the air to catch a swing.
We went to PGL in Kent, on a coach that took three hours instead of an hour and a half! We met our instructor Millie, who was to help us for the next three days. After a packed lunch we had a tour of our rooms where we had to make our beds! It was quite hard actually. We then had an activity to get to know the site. The Nightline activity was really fun. We had to put on blindfolds and hold on to the person’s shoulders in front of us. We had to hold on to a rope and there were obstacles along the way, like going through tyres and underneath nets. We kept on bumping our heads because we had blindfolds, but we didn’t get hurt because we went slowly. Half way through the instructor put sticky plants in our hair…we needed to wash our hair that night! The Leap of Faith was our last activity and everyone was really excited for it. We were nervous, mostly about the climbing up. We felt like we wanted to get down but we knew it would be more fun if we got to the top. Most people did get to the top and then jumped off. When they got down, everyone said it was really fun and they were proud of themselves for getting to the top. I had a really good time at PGL and I wish it could have been longer. Not only the activities, but being in the dorms with my friends and not being at home, being more independent than I normally would, was really enjoyable. We’d like to thank all the teachers who came with us and the staff at PGL.
