This was something to feel exceptionally proud about. Yesterday 29 choir members, including some Year 7 pupils who came back to join us, sang for the US ambassador, Jane Hartley, the Israeli Ambassador Tsipi Hotovely, the Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, the President of the Board of Deputies Phil Rosenberg, members of the House of Lords and commons including Sarah Sackman MP, and many other invited guests, at the official residence of the US ambassador, Winfield House in Regent’s Park.
Amelia Viney, organiser of the event, sent me this wonderful letter today.
Helen, Simone, and the whole Eden Primary team –
I can’t begin to thank you for the remarkable gift you gave us last night – what a talented, charismatic, kind, energetic, bright, memorable group of young leaders you’ve turned into a showstopping choir.
Your performance was easily the highlight of the evening, and the Ambassador was blown away. A couple of photos attached below!
I loved looking at the rows of faces and seeing MPs, Lords, two Ambassadors, Robert Peston and Gabriel Pogrund, the Attorney General, and the Chief Rabbi, all genuinely lit up and full of joy – and many dancing (and joining in).
I know that it was a big, loud, tough crowd, and your pupils couldn’t have handled it with more grace, confidence, and courage. What a credit they are.
As for the staff and chaperones, please pass on our heartfelt gratitude for their time and flexibility – they were absolutely wonderful, and navigated the engagement like champions.Wishing you an excellent end to your week, and a peaceful shabbat,
Amelia Viney
